Bangor Rugby Club will host its annual Floodlit Mini-Rugby Festival from 4pm to 9pm at Upritchard Park, Bangor on Saturday 7th November after welcoming neighbours Bloomfield Shopping Centre & Retail Park as Festival sponsors.
Over 250 players will be involved in the Festival, which is open to Under 9 and Under 10 age groups, with teams coming from Ballyclare, Cooke, Ards, Donaghadee, CIYMS and Holywood. Proceeds from the Festival ballot will be going to support CRY.
Jamie Bill, from Festival sponsors Bloomfield Shopping Centre, said, “Bangor Mini Rugby Floodlit Festival has been running for 17 years helping to develop local sporting talent and after dipping our toe last year we are delighted to be able to increase our support for this year’s event.”
Bangor Rugby Club’s Mark Thallon said, “Mini rugby has gone through a huge expansion in the last few years at Bangor, going from around 60 players seven years ago to over 175 players this year in age groups U7, U8, U9, U10, U11 and U12.
The festival has always been one of the highlights of the mini season as most of the kids get their first opportunity to play under lights and replicate their Ulster heroes.
“The sponsorship from Bloomfield Shopping Centre is extremely important and allows our club to develop and welcome more clubs into the Festival each year.”
The event will be co-ordinated by the Under 9 coaches with help from other coaches and volunteers throughout the Club.
The club train on Sundays at 2pm and welcome any new girls and boys interested in taking part but hurry because some age groups are close to being fully subscribed. Further details are available on www.bangorrfc.co.uk.
