Thursday 16 Nov marked a year since my brother Michael passed away. To provide some focus and to continue to raise awareness and support, I joined Michael’s work colleagues and friends to run the 10k RunThrough race at Battersea Park on Saturday 18 Nov.
There was a great atmosphere and I was keen to get going, hoping an injured calf would hold up. With some hip hop playing on my playlist, Michael’s favourite music, I managed to get round in about 55minutes – a new pb since I had never run 10k before. My calf seized up at the end with suspected torn muscles, but helping to raise awareness of SADS and supporting two great charities in memory of Michael, was worth it. We have raised around £700 so far from this fundraising event – such great continued support from friends and family.
