Bikers from around the area are zooming into action in aid of the charity CRY.
The motorcycle charity run is helping to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young, a charity which helps fund research into sudden death in young people, a problem which has affected several families in the Furness peninsular in recent years.
A local person who owns a motorcycle or a similar vehicle is invited to attend the event, which takes place on Sunday September 2.
It will kick off in Greenodd at 10am, but anyone taking part is asked to come along at 9.30am. It will last for 160 miles and refreshments will be available for all participants at The Derby Arms, Urswick, upon their return. There is a suggested donation of £5 per motorcycle rider of £8 for a rider and pillion. Event co-organisers Vicky Seward said: "We are hoping for a good turnout. I have put up many posters and the feedback has been very positive. If it goes well this year we may turn it into an annual event.
"Hopefully we'll have fun and raise a bit of cash along the way."
The idea is the latest in a string of fund-raising stunts, which have included swimming with sharks and sponsored parachute jumps, organised in a bid to raise £12,000, to bring a mobile unit to the area which can conduct tests among young people to detect any heart problems.
It is the ultimate goal of Sharen Stables, area representative of CRY to bring this unit to Furness to help prevent this 'silent killer', which led to the loss of her son.
