Bromley District Awards Evening

Bromley District Cricket recently held their annual awards evening for those boys that represented Bromley District at cricket and for girls and boys that played for Bromley in the 2014 London Youth Games cricket event. The evening was attended by over 120 players and parents and hosted by Hayes Cricket Club.

Alex Blake was kind enough to attend the awards night and present all the young players with their medals and trophies and tell the audience about his experiences as a Kent County player. One lucky player was delighted to win one of Blakey’s Kent shirts which he brought along for the raffle.

Awards were presented for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Most Improved Player and Player of the Year in the U10, U11, U12, U13 and U14 age groups and for the London Youth Games. All players present were awarded their 2014 District Medals.

The Bromley District Cup was presented to U14 player Liam Buttery, who has represented Bromley District since the age of 10.

During the evening an auction was held in aid of the Ben Daniels Memorial Fund (https://www.justgiving.com/bendaniels) with a percentage of funds being donated (£156.25). Bromley District Cricket is delighted to work alongside Paul Daniels, Ben’s father, in all that he does for the development of cricket in Bromley and Kent and we very much support the hard work he does raising funds for CRY.

Players and parents bid on various items including Brendan Nash’s 2014 signed Kent County shirt and an Ian Botham signed and framed photograph, with money raised donated to Ben’s Memorial Fund and training for the London Youth Games 2015.

All players that book onto courses that Bromley District Cricket run have a £1 contribution to Ben’s trust automatically included in the cost of the course. Ken Slater, Bromley District Development Manager presented Paul Daniels with a cheque for £350 for Ben’s CRY fund as a result of these courses which meant a total of £506.25 was raised.
