We held our annual Cake Sale on 10th May 2025 to remember Aashi and express our heartfelt gratitude to CRY, who supported Aashi’s family during the difficult time when she suddenly left them.
This year marked the 11th anniversary of the sale, and the enthusiasm for coming together as a community continues to grow. We’ve embraced creativity, experimenting with innovative cake and savoury recipes, delicious drinks and expanding our activities to include game stalls, a jewellery stand, organic honey and a gardener’s corner.
Alongside our usual raffle and ‘Guess the Number of M&Ms on the Cake’ challenge, we introduced an auction featuring a beautiful hand-crafted patchwork quilt and the CRY cake. We are thrilled to share that we raised an incredible £11,379 this year, helping CRY in its mission to raise awareness of the vast number of young people affected by sudden cardiac illness.
The photos include beautiful cakes from the organisers. Also a beautiful tier cake from Naturally Delicious Cakes (Romford), Sweet Rose Cakery (Upminster) over the past few years. Also featured a picture of lover Deacon who is Tesco Gallows Corner’s Community Champion, who’s been kindly contributing various raffle prizes over the years in support of CRY.
Friends and family are deeply touched by the continued support from our wider community, including the Christ Eternal High Priest Church who provide the venue, local businesses Jalsa Restaurant on Green Lane, Renata Pogroszewska Naturally Delicious Cakes, Romford, Clover Deacon Tesco Gallows Corner Community Champion, Sainsburys Hornchurch, Co-op Gidea Park, Greggs, Waitrose Upminster, Waterstones Romford and Fabulous Sweet Rose Cakery Upminster and Mr Filippo Negri for their ongoing support and delicious contributions over the years. Each of their generous gestures helped to make the event a great success once again.
We look forward to seeing you at the CRY London Bridges Walk, and we hope many of you will join us in Gidea Park, Essex next May for another memorable cake sale.
