The late August bank holiday was enjoyed by all at the charity cricket match held in the memory of Gary Steven Martin. The event was held at the Hornchurch Cricket Club and there were four teams involved. Maggie Whitlock was Gary’s mum and gives her account of the day below:
“We had a lovely day and the weather was good (for a bank holiday). We had four teams of six playing in a round robin, then the best two teams played a final, my sons team the Whitlock Warriors were the winners.
For the raffle we had some great prizes donated was a cricket bat signed by the Essex first team, two tickets to watch Kent play, an Ipod nano, 6 bottles of vintage champagne and many more.
Lots of the children had their faces painted some of the adults to!
We had cakes and cockles and jellied eels too, pimms and a barbeque and donuts as well.”
