Charity football tournament ‘C-R-Y 4 Kay’ set to take place this weekend in memory of Kayode Famoriyo

MORE than 100 Islanders will take part in a football tournament this weekend to raise funds for charity and celebrate the life of a former Victoria College student.

The annual ‘C-R-Y 4 Kay’ event, held in memory of Kayode Famoriyo, is set to take place on Saturday to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young, which aims to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death.

Mr Famoriyo died in 2018 at the age of 21 from an undiagnosed cardiac condition while playing football with his friends.

Patrick McKimmon, one of the organisers of the event, said: ‘Kayode left a profound impact on everyone he met, whether that be fellow pupils at Victoria College and the University of Birmingham, colleagues at Mourant or members of the Island’s sports communities through his time playing for St Ouen’s FC.

‘The attendance of over 300 footballers and spectators at the annual football tournament stands testament to how loved he was.’

It will begin at 10am and conclude at 6pm, with food, drink and live music until 7pm.
