Hospital porters and doctors swapped their scrubs for football kits to raise money for machines that monitor heartbeats.
The charity football match between staff at Dorset County Hospital raised £6,900 together with other fundraising events in aid of CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
With the money the charity purchased four new state-of-the-art Lifecard heart monitors for the cardiology department at Dorset County Hospital.
Infection control specialist Gloria Moss handed over the new equipment to cardiology manager Peter Chapell and cardiographer Gareth Rolfe.
Mr Chappell said: “The department was extremely grateful for the additional recorders as with more devices it means patients can get quicker access to them and keep them for longer periods of necessary.”
Mrs Moss campaigns for CRY in memory of her daughter Laura, a talented swimmer, who collapsed and died suddenly at the age of 13.
Mrs Moss said: “Many people think of heart problems as affecting older people but people of all ages are affected and often their conditions are not picked up.”
