20th June 2009
On a historic night, the force paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of its officers and staff at the 2009 City of London Police Awards and Charity Gala.
The theme for the gala night was a nostalgic look back at 170 years of force history. Among the 230 guests were three former CoLP Commissioners – Owen Kelly, Perry Nove, and James Hart – who were warmly welcomed to the Awards Gala on Saturday night at the Grange City Hotel in Tower Hill by the current Commissioner, Mike Bowron.
The proud history of the force was brought vividly to life in a specially created review presented by a professional actor and musician.
The focus then fell firmly on the present day with the eagerly awaited announcement of the eight winners of the coveted Dragon Awards for staff achievement.
The dinner dance is expected to raise several thousand pounds and awareness for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young.
