Claire Taylor
On 26th August 2016, Claire went out for a run as she regularly did around the area she lived in Nottingham. During this run, Claire unexpectedly collapsed and died. She was just 27 at the time.
Claire was born in Liverpool and moved around the North of England as a child before settling in Nottingham after attending University there. A secondary school history teacher, Claire was about to start her SEN training to help young people with special educational needs.
Claire was so loved by her parents, Bill and Rosie, her sister, Katie, her fiancé, Paul, and her many family and friends. She loved traveling to far flung places like Sri Lanka, Columbia, Vietnam, Tanzania – she thrived visiting new places and experiencing other cultures. She loved art, although was picky about what she considered interesting… and as a fashion lover, was bold in her choices.
At the time of her death, Claire was planning her wedding and excited for what her life would bring.
Claire’s death devastated her loved ones, not just in the obvious crushing loss but also in the questions and uncertainty it left.
Cardiac Risk in the Young supported with the pathology to answer what the cause of death was, they provided peer grief counselling so we could speak to someone who had been in our shoes, they did extensive family testing to help answer the inevitable question of “could this happen again?” and they give hope through their research to prevent this happening to other families like ours.
The loss of Claire is felt by all who knew her every day and that cannot be changed. Your support helps protect other young lives – and that is a legacy worthy of Claire.
