My beautiful boy Corey passed away on the 14th March 2025 just 4 day shy of this 15th birthday from a sudden cardiac arrest. Corey was diagnosed with C.P.V.T at the age of 9, he had his first cardiac arrest at the age of 7 but it was put down to one of those things. Corey was then a healthy boy till the age 9 where he was racing his little brother home from school and went into another cardiac arrest. The hospital thought I was over the top but I demanded more test to be done as it’s not normal for a child. Corey then went for a echo scan that showed his heart structure was normal so they weren’t going to go any further. Me as a mother demanded once again they did more, after time they agreed to do an exercise tolerance test, this is where they found he had C.P.V.T and he was put on medication and had a cardiac revel device fitted against his heart.
Corey then remained stable until he was 12 where the revel device had picked up more abnormalities and the hospital called him in early and it was agreed they would do a left cervical Sympathectomy in January 2024. Since January, Corey remained stable, in fact he really started thriving and started doing more as he felt good – in his words the best he ever felt. That was until the 14th March 2025 where I found Corey unresponsive in his bedroom. After all the best efforts of the emergency services and hospital staff, they was unable to save my boy.
Since then the post mortem is ongoing. Although we have been able to put my boy to rest we still don’t have any answers.
I met with Corey’s consultant on the 23rd of April who said he had received Corey’s cardiac reveal device and had got reading off it that shows Corey had a short episode on the 6th March but they weren’t aware as after the battery was changed it had NOT paired up to his monitor so they had no reading’s until it was removed.
The devastation the lost has left with our family is unbearable.
Corey was such a happy 14 year old he was cheeky funny and caring and is greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
