Jane and Sam Chewins of JCL Insurance of Malpas, organisers of the Golf Day event at Carden Park Hotel to raise money for heart screening locally in Shropshire and Cheshire in memory of Matthew Dewhirst, a school friend and rugby mate from Ellesmere College and Whitchurch RFU. Many Old Ellesmereians attended the golf day and evening event to raise funds. Dom Simpson, Elder Price from the Book of Mormon, donated theatre tickets for the auction and the star raffle prize was a beautiful £4000 diamond necklace gifted by Boodles of Chester.

All the money raised will be used to provide heart screening for young people aged 14-35 in the local area with Cardiac Risk in the Young and to support the CRY research work at St.George’s Hospital, Tooting into young sudden cardiac death.£12,000 was raised on the day.
