Guest of Honour: CRY Patron Phil Packer

On Wednesday October 21st CRY hosted its annual Parliamentary Reception at Westminster as part of its Raising Awareness Week. We were very pleased to have new CRY Patron Phil Packer as guest of honour.

We were also delighted to welcome over 40 MPs to the event, who came to show their support for CRY’s campaigning. Lord Coe also stopped by for a few minutes.

We are very grateful to all those Parliamentarians who found the time to attend.

Other guests at the event were CRY supporters / families; CRY Surgery Supporters Network members; CRY Patrons Andy Scott and Ben Brown; representatives from Philips and event sponsors Calor Gas; medical professionals; representatives from sporting organisations; CRY Trustees; CRY office and screening staff – and many others.

The event was hosted by Dr Roberta Blackman-Woods MP, Roger Gale MP and Dr Vincent Cable MP, and was the key event in CRY’s Raising Awareness Week.

There were a number of speakers at the event, including Andy Burnham MP (Secretary of State for Health) and Professor Sanjay Sharma (CRY Consultant Cardiologist) who both talked about CRY’s new initiative to screen all young people in the South East born in 1995.

Guest of Honour, Phil Packer (CRY Patron) also spoke, as did three members of the CRY Surgery Supporters Network – James Doherty, Jade Moore and Danii-Marie John.

Roger Gale MP introduced the event and also introduced each of the speakers.

The Reception received overwhelming positive feedback from those who attended, and it was a powerful reminder of the importance of CRY’s work, and the progress that CRY’s campaign is making.
