Liam Dodd, a ‘perfectly fit and healthy’ 20-year-old died in 2019 after coming home from a trip to the cinema with his girlfriend.
He had no previous signs or symptoms of a heart problem, and his death was registered as SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome).
Now, nearly six years later, Liam’s family and his girlfriend, Sarah Irving, have organised a free heart screening event at Caldew School, where Liam was a student, along with a fundraiser in support of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). The screenings will take place on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13.
