On Saturday 27 July, Ruddington Village Football Club held a heart screening session for local people aged between 14-35, via the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

The screening was really well attended with over 100 people visiting the session.

The event was organised by Rob Maddams, co-manager of the U9 Yellows and was made possible following a mammoth fund raising effort by the club, where they raised over £6,500.

Over the past few years, heart problems have been more publicised following the incidents with Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen at Euro 2020 and Luton Town defender Tom Lockyer in the Championship Play-Off Final in 2023.

Rob himself has seen first hand the effects it can have on families, following the death of his brother Jack, aged just 17.
