CRY Update 72 reports on all the CRY news, events and fundraising from January to April 2017.

February saw over 20 years’ worth of CRY research help to inform new international ECG guidelines for screening athletes, led by CRY Consultant Cardiologist Professor Sanjay Sharma. Our work is making a difference and gaining the international recognition it deserves.

The eighth Brighton Marathon took place on April 9 with twenty CRY runners lending their kind support and amazing fundraising efforts to another successful year on the south coast.

CRY’s biggest fundraising event of the year, the Virgin Money London Marathon, took place on Sunday 23 April in 2017 and one hundred and nine CRY runners took part. Everyone at CRY extends our warmest thanks and congratulations to all the runners for tackling the 26.2 miles on the day, as well as the hard miles training before the event.

CRY Patron Bill Neely took part for the eighth time for CRY in 2017, a simply astonishing achievement. Please see the article in this issue for more details and all the names of CRY’s runners.

In this issue’s column from CRY Founder Alison Cox MBE, she discusses why the support of MPs matters and how they have helped forward CRY’s awareness and influence.
