Cycling epic in America

A former junior Wolves player has joined forces with staff from a Staffordshire leisure centre in an ambitious plan to race more than 3,000 miles across America to raise money for charity.

Endurance athlete Clive Middleton is planning to take part in the Race Across America event next month as part of a four-man team with help from Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre gym manager Paul Taylor.

The team will cycle a total of 3,043 miles across the United States and will have to endure gruelling stages as well as sleep deprivation. Mr. Middleton, who was on the books at the Molineux in the 1970s, is putting the final touches to his preparations for the race which starts on Jun 11.

Meanwhile, Joe Tyler, aged 20, from Foxtail Way in Wimblebury, will run for the Loch Ness Marathon in October for the Parkinson' Disease Society. See
