Drumming up support

African drummers will bring a World Cup feel to an annual charity football match in memory of a Teesside teenager.

The match, between African team Tees Valley United and Norton and Stockton Ancients Select XI, gets under way at 3pm tomorrow at the Ancients' ground at Norton Sports Complex, Station Road, Norton.

The event is in memory of John Owens, a Thornaby youngster who died tragically aged must 17 a result of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome in 2005.

Entrance to the match is free, but donations are welcome.

Proceeds will go the CRY (a charity to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young.)
