The parents and a family friend of a much-loved boy who died suddenly are preparing to take part in a skydive to help save young lives.
Jasper Cook, from Birkenshaw, was just eight years old when he tragically passed away in 2022.
An inquest concluded Jasper, a Birkenshaw Primary School pupil, died from natural causes – but what prompted his death could not be determined.
His loved ones, including his parents Kim and Ian, have since been fundraising to hold cardiac screening events for people aged between 14 and 35. They do this through the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity.
Kim, Ian, and family friend Darren Braecklein are now gearing up to jump out of a plane in a skydive to raise further funds for CRY.
Good luck with the skydive! (Image: Newsquest/Mike Simmonds) Kim told the Telegraph & Argus: “I am absolutely terrified about doing this and never thought it would be something I would do my life.
“But losing Jasper has made me realise how fragile life is and that we have to take opportunities when they arise.
“I thought it was a great idea to do something memorable in Jasper’s name, with the money raised going to make a difference to young people in our community.”
