Family who lost a son help others

A couple whose son died during a football training session two years ago have kept up a campaign to help save other youngsters.

Football fan Adam Payne was just eight when he died from an undetected heart condition, leaving his parents Nick and Monia and younger brother Liam devastated.

The couple, from Westerham Road, Sittingbourne, has since started a campaign for all children to receive compulsory ECG checks, to avoid another family losing a child.

They have also been helped by friends, family and Adam's school pals to raise money for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). The charity reports that almost 100 per cent of Primary Care Trusts are aware of a document on Sudden Death Syndrome.

Mrs Payne said: "Adam would have been 11 on April 28, and to remember his birthday his school had a collection for CRY."
