A charity has donated its fourth piece of equipment to Frome’s new hospital.
The Julian Wort Memorial Fund was set up in 2001 by Shirley and Dave Wort after the death of their son, Julian.
The fund has raised more than £25,000 since then and last week donated a second de-fibrillator and presented a plaque to the hospital in Julian’s memory.
The fund is run in conjunction with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), a charity that raises awareness of sudden death in young people.
Julian, who was a builder, died in his sleep seven years ago because of a rare heart condition.
He was 28 and had shown symptoms of an illness earlier in his life, but doctors did not realise he had an enlarged heart muscle and instead thought it was asthma.
Mrs Wort, from Critchill, said: “This is our fourth piece of heart monitoring equipment we have donated though the generosity of the community, family and friends.
“We have donated two ECG machines, one of them to From Medical Practice and the other to the hospital’s minor injuries unit, and this latest AED 20 defibrillator.
“We have also presented an engraved plaque in Julian’s memory to the minor injuries unit of the new community hospital.
