Franklen was accompanied on the ride by his father (Martin Howell) and Dan’s best friend, Nathan Shaw (Martin’s cousin). They where sent on their way by the Town Crier from Leek (Bill Lomas).

Half way around Franklen fell off and cut his knee, but after being patched up with Star Wars plasters he bravely carried on. Martin was so proud he had tears in his eyes when Franklen reached the Alexandra Stadium finish. A special thank you to Leek Link Taxis for bringing Bill to the Stadium free of charge to greet them. Dan’s parents (David and Susan Hughes) also met them at the stadium.

Franklen says he is planning to organise a charity football match next.
