Fun Day in memory of Luke Dickinson

26th May 2014

The event started from 2pm onwards with the BBQ starting at 3pm. We had 32 teams of two all competing for a bottle of bubbly and a bottle of whiskey for the victors and a key ring from CRY that reminded us of why we were there. There were plenty of balloons and leaflets around the pub showing who we were supporting that day and any help lines anyone could use to get in contact with the charity.

Around 150 people visited the pub that day supporting us and donating their money in memory of Luke Dickinson. Lukes family attended the event and his brother Mathew even helped me with the food.

Blackburn Rovers very own Connor Mahoney attended the day for a couple of hours speaking with customers and signing autographs. It turned out to be a very successful day with donations from so many local businesses. We auctioned off a signed Blackburn Rovers shirt, a signed Burnley shirt, a signed Manchester City football and 2 two nights stay in The Dome hotel in Bowness. Through the auction alone we raised £1000! We sold raffle tickets throughout the day with a jackpot prize of a years supply of pies donated by the local business Hollands.

We raised £1718 through the competition, the raffle and the auction. After counting up the donation boxes and collecting from other supporters who couldn’t make the day we have managed to raise around £2000.
