Fund continue to pour in

Five years ago, Julian Wort collapsed and died, aged 28, from hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.

His parents, Shirley and Dave, contacted the organisation Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and they were a tremendous support to them. A year later, they decided that they needed to raise awareness of the charity and do some fundraising themselves.

CRY set up The Julian Wort Memorial Fund and, through many local fundraising events, they have raised enough money to donate a state-of-the-art ECG machine in memory of Julian to the Frome Medical Practice, where it is housed at Saffron Surgery. Mr and Mrs Wort then went on to raise more funds and donated a defibrillator to Frome Victoria Hospital.

During the last four years, they have raised £17,500.

The next donation of heart monitoring equipment will stay locally in memory of Julian.
