Patrick Bucknall, died on January 7th 2025 aged 32 years, of Sudden Cardiac Death, in his flat in London. An athletic and healthy living young man, he had no history of heart problems and there had been no warning signs in advance of his death. His loss came as a huge shock, and he is deeply missed by family, friends and colleagues alike. Patrick was a brave, talented, kind and generous young man. He worked in London as a Visual Effects Artist, most recently on films such as Paddington in Peru, and How To Train Your Dragon, before which he had spent many years living and working in Canada.

The family chose CRY as the charity we wanted to raise funds for, in memory of Patrick, because of the support and help they provided us, setting up a memorial fund through www.muchloved.com. Over £5,000 has been donated by friends and family, and in addition, over £1,000 was raised by the sale of T-shirts designed and printed by Patrick’s sister Ella.

We also raised another £1,242 through direct donations and a share of the profits at the annual Summer Open Day of Billy’s Lane Allotments in Stockport.

We have asked CRY to use as much of the money raised in Patrick’s memory to support screening events in sports clubs, Patrick having been a keen rugby player through his childhood and teenage years.
