This important date in the CRY calendar each year hopes to give supporters the opportunity to connect with others, remember those who have died from Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD) and support those living with a heart condition. Walk to raise awareness, reflect and remember.

Registration fee

£12 per adult, Children aged 16 and under walk for free and must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I still register?

Online registration is now closed. If you would still like to join us on Sunday but have missed pre-registration, you can register on the day! Just visit our ‘On The Day Registration’ Marquee at Durham Rowing Club upon arrival to sign up and recieve your T-shirt and back sign if applicable. 

On the day registration fee is £15 for adults with children aged 16 and under walking for free and must be accompanied by an adult. Walkers can arrive from 9:30am ready to set off for the walk at 11:00am

Message wall:

Supporters can now upload their photos and messages for the digital wall which will be shown at the top of this page. Messages can be uploaded until 4pm on the day.

ON THE DAY:

9:30am – Walkers start to arrive

10:00 – Food and drink available at the bar

10:35 – Speeches

11:00am – The walk begins

The Route:

Approximately 3.5 miles, the Durham Walk will take you from Durham Amateur Rowing Club, along the riverside, taking in sites such as the iconic cathedral, and then on through the city centre finishing back at the rowing club.

The route includes step-free access. If you are unable to take part in the walk, you are welcome to stay with the CRY team at Durham Amateur Rowing Club.

Message wall:

Support Marquee Message Wall
On the day of the event, we will have a support marquee at the rowing club where you can write a message, or pin your back-signs up to remember all those who have died suddenly from YSCD or in support of someone living with a condition. All message cards from the day will be displayed at CRY’s National Screening Centre in Leatherhead.

Digital Message Wall
Participants are also welcome to upload a photo and message to our digital message wall. These will be displayed on the CRY Heart of Durham Walk webpage to show the impact and true incidence of young sudden cardiac death in the UK. These can be sent in from now until 4pm on Sunday 5th October.

Access to the digital hub – here you will find all the information you will need to know for the day, including downloadable items and links to upload to our message wall.

A CRY T-Shirt

Downloadable back-signs to print and pin to the back of your T-shirts on the day (we can also post these to you!)

My Walk for cry:

If you can’t make it to Durham on the day, but would still like to take part raising awareness in your local area, then you can sign up to My Walk For CRY.

We encourage supporters to plan a route the equivalent distance as the Durham Walk (3.5 miles) to raise awareness, remember those who have died from Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD), and support those living with a heart condition.

You’ll receive an event pack filled with ideas to get you started, including t-shirt, back-signs and links to upload to our digital message wall.
