When it comes to being committed to your sport you would have to go a long way to beat both Iain Taylor and Robert Cowell.
Tennis and skate boarding could not be further apart when it comes to sport but both have a common goal – dedication to the sport they love.
Not content with just playing in a 24 hour fundraiser, Iain had about enough time to towel down, before he was out the door again to play in a league match.
"I was completely shattered," said Iain after his round the clock marathon at Burnley Tennis Club. "But I had a match to play the following morning so I just had enough time to have a quick wash and then get out again.
The marathon event was to raise funds for the national charity Cardiac Risk in the Young – a charity which is close to him after the sudden death of his wife Vicki who died of Long QT Syndrome.
Iain was overwhelmed with the turnout and after playing tennis for 12 hours it was into the club house for table tennis, darts and a few drinks.
The event finished at 9am in the morning with his league match starting just an hour later.
Despite losing the match, Iain won his two sets.
"I'm not too sure how I did it but I think I just aimed for the ball in the middle."
Robert may not have shown his dedication to his sport in such extreme circumstances but his dedication to the sport has helped raise the profile of Longridge Skatepark Group.
A self-confessed 'maverick', Robert it as modest as they come when it comes to self publicity, putting the club's needs before his own. but you can't keep a good man down and maverick or not, the sport's governing body want to secure his services.
So take a bow Iain and Robert you deserve your moments in the limelight and a pat on the back for your efforts.
I have to confess to scoring something of an own goal.
Football is finally up and running and I go and take two weeks off. But I'll be back soon on a touchline near you.
