On May 13th 2005, Councillor Mair Gibbs was inaugurated as the new Lord Mayor of the City and County of Swansea.

The new Mayor has chosen CRY to be her charity.

The inauguration literature said: “Mair has chosen the local branch of Cardiac Risk in the Young, the Christiaan Stuart Smith Memorial Fund [as the Lord Mayor’s Charity Fund]. Mair is looking to set up a fund to help raise much needed contributions for organisations and groups who support young people with special education needs.”

CRY supporter Paulette Smith – mother of Christiaan Smith – attended the event.
