My son had been wanting to shave his hair for a while to donate the hair to the little princess charity as they make wigs for children who suffer from cancer. Unfortunately, his hair wasn’t long enough to donate at the time he decided he wanted to do it, so it has been growing ever since. As the time has gone on he has been asking what he could shave his hair for, if there were any charities that he could do it for, but we never had any charities close to us to choose from.
Then out of the blue, Lesley Mease popped into my business (GRAPHIXSIGNS LTD) and shared her story with us, and she asked if we could produce some sticker logos of CRY that she could put on her late sons VW Transporter vehicle. So we set too and completed this for her.
While in the process of doing this, my son, daughter wife and myself attended a local Xmas pantomime and at the end of the performance, they announced that they were collecting for 2 charities, St Marys Hospice & CRY, and as they announced it, I was looking at Kayan, and I had a light bulb moment, that we could do the hair shave and raise money for the CRY charity for Lesley & Wilson.
We had Kayan’s Primary School (Dane Ghyll School), Kayan’s current secondary school, Industry 13 Gym (where the event took place) The local paper (The Mail) all involved in sharing the poster & social media links to try and raise as much awareness and funds as we could, as of today the total stands at ยฃ850 raised for the charity which i think is a great amount for an 11 year old to raise.
I am so proud of Kayan, Lesley & every single person who has donated, times are very hard and i know even a few ยฃ can be a struggle for some people to give, so the donations we have received are mind blowing.
