93 people were screened on 1st June 2025 at Witham Town Football Club. This screening was in memory of Kayleigh Griffiths. Thank you to all involved.
This memorial fund has been set up by the family to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) raise awareness of young sudden cardiac death, support those affected, support CRY’s screening programme and fund research and pathology.
Kayleigh Griffiths was just 23 years old when she suffered a heart attack from which she could not be saved. A post mortem identified Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy as an undiagnosed condition as the cause. A fit and seemingly healthy young lady taken tragically from a much loved family. We discovered CRY when looking for reasons for our loss and have been supported by them ever since.
We decided that we would run charity events to support the work they do and screenings for the people locally in our community. If the screenings help save a life, great. Even better if they get all clear and peace of mind.
