I ran the Edinburgh Half Marathon for CRY in 2 hours 44 minutes. Although I’m not a fast runner, I nevertheless did run every step of 13.1 miles and it meant a lot to know that I had so much support and encouragement.

My Virgin Money Giving page – http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/LesleyYoung1 – attracted £320, making a total of £645 (exclusive of Gift Aid).

Much of my offline sponsorship money came from members of my church – St. Ternan’s Episcopal Church, Banchory, Scotland – and from my Jazzercise group, who all enthusiastically bought over 150 of my cupcakes for a donation to CRY.

My daughter, Helena painted my nails before the run. During the last few miles the announcer did mention my name and say that I was running for a great charity, CRY. I didn’t see any other runners wearing CRY vests but maybe they were just a lot further ahead of me!
