On Wednesday 20th June 2012 Suzanne Agnew completed the Lisburn Half Marathon in 2 hours and 13 minutes in memory of her brother Paul. She has so far raised £175 from her efforts.
“On June 20th 2012 I ran the Lisburn (Northern Ireland) half Marathon in memory of my brother Paul Agnew.
I spent around 6 months training for the race building up to 10 miles the week before the race run. I was never very sporty so this was a big achievement for me. I was very determined to complete the race and raise some money for my favourite charity CRY. I completed the race in 2 hours 13 mins and I managed to raise £175.
CRY reached out to my family when we lost Paul in 1988 from Sudden Death Syndrome. Very little was known then about the condition and my family knew even less. CRY wrote to my mum and dad and offered them support. This meant the world to my parents at this time, as Paul’s death was so sudden and unexplainable. CRY made it clear that we were not alone and they offered advice and guidance.
I will continue to raise money for CRY when I can and have recently decided to give CRY badges as wedding favours for my wedding in March.
The photos below are of me at the race….not bad for a couch potato eh?!”
