It hit Josh Harmer hard when his best friend died aged just 21.
Ollie Marsden collapsed in front of his team-mates at a rugby training session and later died from a suspected heart attack.
Two months on, Mr Harmer and girlfriend Lizzi Wood, of Burrs Road, Clacton, want to raise money for a charity campaigning for heart screening awareness.
They are supporting Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) which wants to offer every secondary school pupil in the district an electrocardiogram test which can detect undiagnosed heart faults.
Mr Harmer and Miss Wood's charity event is based on Twiggy's Frock Exchange, the BBC Two television programme. It will be held on January 10. For information ring Miss Wood on 07970 584969.
