Longhope Legends Cup 2023

Longhope FC held their 3rd edition of the Legends Cup in Memory of Wayne Clark and all we have lost in connection to the club / village

The current side took on a team of ex-Longhope players in a competitive 90 minutes.

The current side ran out 7-5 winners in a close game where the Legends took a 3-2 lead just before half time.

Stand out performances from the game Longhope captain on the day and man of the Match Steve Clark hit a hatrick.

Legends striker Liam James hit a 30 yard effort and Longhope Striker Tom O’Hara slotted away a great effort from the edge of the box after some great one touch passing.

Spectators, some coming as far as Snowdonia – North Wales and Reading – enjoyed the bar, bbq and music from local band Violet Crows into the evening.

The charity means a lot to the club since losing Wayne in 2015 to an undiagnosed heart condition.

Robbie Clark nephew of Wayne: This day is always amazing for the club and the village. It brings together multiple generations of our great club and raises money for a worthy cause. The game was played in the right spirit and had a real competitive edge! We’d like to thank everyone who helped the day happen and we hope to see everyone next year!
