Mike Heyes is taking on 32 10k runs in memory of friend, James Nicholas, to raise funds for CRY

James Nicholas, from Dentons Green, suddenly passed away in October 2012 days before what would have been his 22nd birthday due to the undiagnosed condition.

After his passing, his family started the James Nicholas Foundation and have set up local heart screenings in St Helens since 2014.

Mike Heyes, who was a close friend of James’ decided to take on the challenge 10 years since James died.

He is taking on 10k runs on the streets of St Helens, to mark the anniversary and is doing them over 32 days, as Jame would have turned 32 in October.

Mike, from Toll Bar, said: “I’m raising money for CRY, Cardiac Risk in the Young, who aim to provide young people with heart checks that can detect problems and potentially save lives.”
