Ollie, Liza, Chloe and Emma’s Run for Clarissa
In May 2023, I lost my twin sister Clarissa from an undiagnosed cardiac condition a week before our 21st birthday. In her memory, I will be running the 2023 Oxford Half with three of Clarissa’s close friends, Liza, Emma, and Chloe.
Like me, Clarissa had a vast pool of energy which needed to go somewhere. Unlike me, she channeled it into something productive and was an exceptional runner for club, school, and university. Her determination and no-nonsense attitude were a constant inspiration to me and to her friends. She was an astonishing person, and it is so strange and cruel that somebody with such a passion for life has been deprived of it at such a young age. Completing the Oxford Half is a way to pay tribute to her by doing something she loved, and also by raising important money for CRY. It is so important to properly fund screenings and research which might prevent similar tragedies, alongside raising awareness about the risk to apparently fit and healthy young people.
In short Clarissa was an incredibly special person to me and was adored by all her friends. In her memory we want to support the incredibly important work that CRY does, so any and all donations would mean the world.
