Dominic and I decided a while ago that we needed a real endurance challenge. Inspired by friends who have run similar events we decided to challenge ourselves with an Ultramarathon. Rather than make it easy we decided to run this over the South Downs from Goodwood to Winchester (commonly known as the Race to the King). With over 2,000 miles of training this year alone and having spent more time with each other than with our wives, on Saturday we were raring to go.
After a tough but incredibly rewarding day we both completed the race, with Dominic in an amazing 61st place (me 93rd). It is amazing how much support you receive from and give to your fellow competitors during such an event as everyone has peaks and troughs. Fantastic event.
We wanted to raise some money for a worthy cause. With undiagnosed cardiac conditions only last week hitting the news we thought it even more appropriate that we should raise money for CRY and we hope that they will be able to use our supporters generous donations to good use.
Keep up the great work CRY!
