The second West Sussex Youth Music Awards competition, held in the Recital Hall of the Regis School of Music, was won by Yasmin Rowe, an outstanding young pianist from Yapton.
Five finalists were selected from the 20 candidates who competed in the first round in January, which was judged by Terry Allbright and Susan Legg.
The five finalists each presented a 15-minute programme to a packed Recital Hall in front of two judges, Peter Hewitt, head of the junior department at the Royal College of Music, London and Michael Sullivan, head of music awards and performance.
