Sales of a quiz sheet have raised £100 for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
All of the funds raised will go towards the Julian Wort Memorial Fund – an arm of the CRY charity.
The fund, which helps to purchase cardiac equipment for Frome Victoria Hospital, was set up by Dave and Shirley Wort, of the Critchill Estate, in Frome.
They are the parents of Julian, who died unexpectedly in his sleep in March 2000 due to a rare heart condition.
Mrs Wort said: “The first prize-winner was Mrs Whitmarsh, who wins £10, and the second prize goes to Carol Chafer, who wins £5.
“The £100 raised through the quiz will go towards the £3,000 required to buy another defibrillator for Frome Victoria Hospital’s minor injuries department.”
During the past seven years, Mr and Mrs Wort have raised more than £22,000.
That has enabled them to donate an electro-cardiograph machine and defibrillator to the hospital.
Mrs Wort added: “I would like to thank everyone who bought a quiz sheet and special thanks must also go the Claire Burge of Variety Stores, the staff at Frome Victoria Hospital, and Sally and Stella in the Somerset Standard office.”
