Sue Carter’s world was shattered when her 25-year-old son Ryan died suddenly following a cardiac arrest.

When Sue found out that there was a charity that offered potentially life-saving heart screening for young people – she dedicated herself to raising money.

Sue runs craft events near her home in Totton.

Sue’s events have so far raised more than £20,000, which has been used to organise the screening events.

Sue’s son Ryan was only 25 when he died unexpectedly in 2019.

“He’d just basically had lunch, went upstairs, sat on the bed, and his girlfriend went to the toilet, come back out, and he was gone,” Sue said.

“But the post-mortem showed that his body was fit and healthy, like he’s just gone to sleep.

“There was no cause of death.

“His heart rhythm just stopped – it just turned off.”
