We are asking CRY families to contact their Member of Parliament and encourage them to attend an important event in Parliament on Tuesday 2 December at Portcullis House, hosted by Amanda Hack MP alongside Liam Conlon MP in support of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
MPs will be invited to learn more about CRY’s work and the aims and objectives of the Cardiac Risk in the Young All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), ahead of its formal relaunch at the AGM in early 2026, to be chaired by Amanda Hack MP.
The CRY APPG was originally launched in 2002 and was proudly chaired for more than 20 years by Kevan Jones, until he was appointed to the House of Lords. Over two decades, the APPG played a crucial role in:
Giving bereaved families a voice in Parliament
With new momentum and parliamentary support, we can continue this vital progress.
Dear [MP’s name],
I am writing as a constituent and supporter of the national charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) to ask if you would please attend the CRY parliamentary ‘drop-in’ event on Tuesday 2 December at Portcullis House, 12-2pm room R, hosted by Amanda Hack, MP for North-West Leicestershire.
CRY works to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths and supports families across the UK.
Every week in the UK, 12 young people (aged 35 and under) die suddenly from a previously undiagnosed heart condition. This is an issue that deeply affects many communities and families, including mine.
The event will also provide the opportunity to show support for the relaunch of the CRY All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), originally established in 2002 and chaired for over 20 years by Kevan Jones, who has since joined the House of Lords. The APPG has played a vital role in raising awareness, shaping policy, and promoting life-saving research and heart screening in young people.
I would be very grateful if you could attend this event and indicate your intention to join the APPG ahead of its formal AGM in early 2026, chaired by Amanda Hack MP.
Your support can make a real difference in preventing avoidable young deaths
Kind regards,

Thank you for your continued support. Together, by encouraging MPs to act, we can help save young lives and protect families from the tragedy of losing a young person to an undiagnosed cardiac condition.
