Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) will now be able to add 20 more dates to its “heart screening calendar” through a generous new partnership with Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd. It’s all thanks to the efforts of one of its employees; one of CRY’s long-standing campaigners and fundraisers, Dave Hughes.
We are hosting a charity netball tournament on Saturday September 16th, 2023 at Keele University and all monies raised will be donated to CRY in memory of Dan Hughes.
Why Do I Support CRY? During Heart Month 2024, CRY launched ‘why do I support CRY?’. The campaign aims to personify and tell the stories behind CRY. We are asking our supporters to send in their reasons for supporting CRY so we can share them on our social media what CRY means to so many.

During the four-month period, we screened over 7,000 people with 6,972 being screened at family screening events. Furthermore, CRY’s Research Team was recognised at the British Cardiac Society with some members even receiving awards.
On Saturday the 11th of June we staged our annual 7 a side football tournament for the Dan Hughes memorial shield. 8 local teams entered the competition and its Congratulations to Winners Wood Lane F.C. who beat Audley 1-0 in the final. July 17th was the date for the annual Dan Hughes cricket and Family fun day which this year was held at Audley Cricket Club. The cricket started at 9:30 and ran until 6pm when it concluded with hosts Audley beating near neighbours Betley in a keenly contested final. Local Radio station Hitmix 107.5 were in attendance
