When lockdown started, I decided that, as I couldn’t have a party to celebrate my 65th birthday on the 26th April, I would do my The 65 Challenge.
My son Rob, an apparently very fit, junior international sportsman, was diagnosed with a heart condition at his pre-Sandhurst medical. He has now had surgery at St. Georges which appears to have been successful.
Unfortunately, the 2.6 Challenge was then launched for the same date.
Throughout the day I did The 65 Challenge – a series of 18 physical activities around the number 65:
- 6500 metres row
- 6500 metres bike
- 65 shuttle runs
- 65 dips
- 65 TRX pull ups
- 65 squat jumps
- 65 press ups
- 65 step ups
- 65 jumping jacks
- 65 seconds plank
- 65 skips
- 65 clean and jerks
- 65 sit ups
- 65 punches
- 65 seconds balance
- 65 stroke volley rally
- 65 in three darts
- 18. 65 cl beer down in one
I did this to say thank you to CRY for their advice and support, to create more awareness of sudden death in the young and to raise funds to provide more screening.
