When the committee of Kingston Vale Operatic and Dramatic Society (KVODS) announced that they wanted each of the committee members to put forward a charity, as they were going to do an extra performance and donate all tickets sales from this performance, I immediately thought of CRY.
Having just joined CRY as Volunteer Co-ordinator of the Surgery Support Group, and having had emergency open heart surgery 7 years ago myself due to viral myocarditis, I could think of no other charity I would rather support.
So I went to the next committee meeting with some information in hand and put CRY forward, it was voted upon and decided that CRY would be the charity that we would support.
KVODS performed ‘Return to The Forbidden Planet’ from 12th May to 21st May 2005 at Kingston Vale Village Hall, Kingston Vale, Surrey; and the opening night’s ticket sales were donated to CRY.
This is a great show based on Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ but based on a spaceship! There are a lot of rock and roll songs along the way such as ‘Teenager in Love’, ‘The Young Ones’ and ‘Great Balls of Fire’.
