On the weekend of the 18th & 19th May a team of friends took part in the Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Neil Schuyleman and have so far raised an amazing £4,638.71.
“Ok. Last from me (believe that, you’ll believe anything…)….so what happened?
Twas a very pleasant weekend (actually very fulfilling). Friday we spent a delightful night in the chic (booking essential!) Alexandra Hotel in Fort William….and then off….the rest a bit of a blur but the bits you need to know are….
Ben Nevis…6 hours in the snow and crowds! But wow it was sunny!!
ScaFell Pike… Nearly all night walking (some what hair raising!) 3 hours 40 mins! ….and
Snowdon…4 hours 20 mins in the early hours….a great hill!
Soooo… 14 hours of walking….no blisters, no sleep (sleep on a bus? yeah right), only minor chafing (don’t ask where…), several bus quizzes, several quizzical looks!, and overall just under 28 hours start to finish! OK , so not 24, but who’s counting….
Let’s also mention surviving on a bizarre diet of energy bars, jelly babies, deep heat, nurofen, nuts, peperami, sausage rolls, pork pies (best by far) lucozade sport, bananas and one life saving portion of Ham, Egg and Chips. With a cup of Tea.
Lucky with the weather, traffic (but not EU driving regulations), and most of all, the company. Was a real joy to be with Dom, Ian, Dave, Andre, Lee, Charles and Marek. Loads laughs, never a crossed word and all supportive through the hard times (mainly delayed flights home!), not to mention a little competitive every now and then…
And of course thanks to you all for the wonderful sponsorship and support you have given myself and CRY….up to 115 (112 on-line, 3 off) donations. Amazing. I cannot thank you enough but hope I’ve at least scratched the surface.
A few piccies are NOW on the website via the link below. Alternatively wait to be bored as I regale you with war stories over the next few generations!
Bye (for now…)
