Rugby players will be testing their endurance in a 24-hour non-stop match next weekend.
the sponsored event will raise money for two charities close to the hearts of the Broken Badgers, an adult touch-rugby team set up last year.
The event will also act as a thank you to Bugbrooke RFC, with which the Broken Badgers are attached, for their support in setting up the new team.
Half the money raised will be given to Cardiac Risk in the Young, a charity which the club has supported since they death of local man Timothy Spooner, a close friend to many at the club, who died of a heart defect aged 21 in 2008.
the second half will be given to the James Borondy Trust set up in memory of a nine-year-old mini rugby player who died from Large B Cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma two years ago.
Dave Appleton, who helped found the Broken Badgers and is coach for the under 14s at Bugbrooke RFC, said: “We set up the team because there comes a point when you don’t want to worry about the physical side of the game.
“We really appreciate all the support from everyone and thought it would be great to throw an event like this where we can raise money but also have some fun.
“The two charities are close to the hearts of the players so it was an easy decision to donate the money to them.
“It was a great shock when both boys died and we’re delighted to support these charities.
“James was a great little rugby player and it shook everyone when he died.”
The players will be substituted throughout the game but are likely to play around 12 house each between 8pm on Friday and 8pm on Saturday.
