Specsavers staff in Bradford took part in a treadmill marathon to raise money for CRY in the memory of Michael Land. They raised a wonderful £300 with their efforts and the support of their customers. The below was written by the local newspapers.

Opticians have heart for good cause

“Athletic staff at two Bradford opticians went the extra mile for charity by competing against each other in a treadmill marathon.

In aid of CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), the teams at Darley Street and Girlington Specsavers took part in their own instore treadmill challenges to rack up the most miles during trading hours.

Customers helped to raise £300 for the charity as staff recorded 49.5 miles, with the team at the Girlington store in Victoria Shopping Centre pipping their rivals by running 27.1 miles.

The event was supported by Yorkshire Fitness Hire, whose company owner Frazer Land provided the treadmills for free because his brother, Michael, died at 28 from a heart condition.” Frazer, 32, of York, who ran at the Darley Street store’s event, said: “It is
great to be involved in something which raises money for a charity that works to prevent other families from going through the same torture of losing a loved one so suddenly as I did.”
