Walking the Ullswater Way to Support CRY for Edens Lifesaving Work
On Sunday 6th April 2025, a team of walkers took on the full 20-mile Ullswater Way in Cumbria’s Lake District to raise awareness and funds for CRY for Eden, helping to bring vital heart screenings to young people in the local area.
Setting off from The Sun Inn in Pooley Bridge at 8am, the group completed the scenic circular route in a single day. The trail offered a varied and challenging mix of terrain – from peaceful lakeside stretches to steep climbs and open fellside – with spectacular views throughout. Despite the distance, the team remained upbeat and energised, enjoying the camaraderie and natural beauty along the way.
The Ullswater Way walk was not only a physical challenge, but also a powerful platform to promote the importance of cardiac screening in young people aged 14–35. Sudden cardiac deaths in the young often occur without warning, and CRY’s screening programme plays a crucial role in the early detection of underlying heart conditions that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Funds raised through the walk will go directly towards organising screening events in the Eden area, making these potentially lifesaving checks accessible to more young people.
The team was proud to support CRY’s mission of prevention through early diagnosis – and grateful for the many supporters who helped make the day a success.
