27th May 2006
The day got off to a shaky start as we were directed to the wrong place, ending up at Clunie & Floss instead of Aberfeldy which was over 10 miles away.
With help from a canoeist at Clunie & Floss, we managed to find out where we should be!
After a mad dash we finally arrived 20 minutes late, to find a bus full of other white-water rafters. We had the quickest induction in history and after getting changed into wetsuits, life jackets, etc we finally got on the bus.
The white-water rafting was great fun and we all enjoyed getting soaked – but that didn’t matter as it was continuous rain for the whole day. There were another five rafts and everyone – including a stag party from Wales – was there for the same thing: to raise money and have fun.
Our instructor Pete was a lot of fun, although along with the other men on our raft, he was one of the only people who didn’t get wet!
John Esplin was an amazing man and is sorely missed by everyone who knew him. I’m sure he would have had a good laugh at us, but he would also have been very proud of us and what we have achieved in his memory.
Lesley, Andy, Jacquie, Kirsty, Laura, Linda, Sarah and Stephen would all like to thank CRY and SKYLINE for the experience. We would also like to thank our families and friends from Scottish Power and Barr Construction for helping us raise £1400 so far – and we’re still counting!
