Why Do I Support CRY?

CRY's campaign to raise awareness during Heart Month 2024.
1st - 29th Feb
Join the campaign

During Heart Month 2023, CRY launched ‘why do I support CRY?’. The campaign aimed to personify and tell the stories behind CRY. With the great success of the campaign and the amazing awareness raised via social media, we are relaunching the campaign for Heart Month in 2024.

We are again asking our supporters to send in their reasons for supporting CRY so we can share on our social media what CRY means to so them. The campaign was met with hundreds of responses, many sharing deeply personal stories of the impact of Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD) and our cardiac screening programme.

We will continue to share new responses across our social media channels throughout the year, so if you would still like to share your reasons for supporting CRY; please email comms@c-r-y.org.uk.

Extracts from 2023's submissions
We support CRY because my husband and children's dad died of sudden cardiac arrhythmia while driving to work. No symptoms, just gone. We as a family think it's important to raise awareness and help raise funds.
Mary Stiller
We lost our beautiful boy Leon. CRY first helped me understand my grieving process and then I went into there counselling bereavement course. We help numerous people by talking and sharing our stories. We have fundraised so much and saved so many lives through screening. I will always support CRY
Julie Hatton
I have supported CRY since the loss of my wonderful son at the age of 24, in 2014. I don't want other parents to have to deal with the loss of a loved one. Screening can prevent these tragedies.
The Adam Lewis Effect
Since our fit and healthy 30 year old son passed away suddenly, just went to sleep and never woke up five years ago. The support and compassion received from CRY will never be forgotten, Raising awareness is so important to save lives and prevent other families being utterly devastated by this loss.
Deb Pallace

How to join the campaign…

Send us a short video explaining why you support CRY

Are you supporting CRY to help raise money for screening events? Or are you holding an event, raising awareness in memory of someone, or running a marathon to raise vital funds for CRY services? Tell us about it. The message can be as long or as short as you would like, for example, "I support CRY to help save young lives".

Send us a short paragraph or few sentences explaining why you support CRY

If you would prefer not to send a video, we are also accepting text entries. If you would like to include a photo to go alongside your message, please do. We would love to see people at CRY events, screenings, or raising awareness.

When you are ready, please send your video or text to comms@c-r-y.org.uk or via social media direct message with ‘Why I Support CRY’ as the subject.
